Our Journey
Green Planet Bio-Fuels was founded in 2008 by Steven Hyman, a Chef turned entrepreneur with a passion for sustainability. After discovering the potential of used cooking oil as a source of fuel, Steven set out to create a business that would transform waste into valuable resources while supporting a greener future. What began as a personal experiment in a kitchen converting a diesel vehicle to run on used cooking oil has now grown into a thriving business serving nearly 6,000 restaurants across North America.
Our Founder
Steven Hyman, Founder and President of Green Planet Bio-Fuels, began his career in the hospitality industry, completing a culinary apprenticeship in some of Toronto’s most respected kitchens. His path took an unexpected turn when he began experimenting with converting used cooking oil into fuel for his own vehicle. Driven by a passion for innovation and environmental responsibility, Steven founded Green Planet Bio-Fuels in 2008.
Under his leadership, Green Planet has grown from a small startup into a trusted service provider for nearly 6,000 food service locations and facilities across Southern Ontario. Steven’s hands-on, family-driven approach continues to shape the company’s culture, reinforcing its commitment to exceptional service, sustainability, and community involvement.
